The Border Guard Station in Piusa is completed

The 3^rd of June the new Border Guard station in Võmmorsk village in south eastern Estonia was inaugurated ceremonially. The Piusa Border Guard station got a new modern station building that is among the most important support points for the guarding of the land border of Estonia.

During the building process the old outdated building was torn down and instead of it a brand new station was built. The Piusa station was the last outdated station on the eastern border of EU. By completing this station, all border guards on the eastern border now have modern and up-to-date working conditions. The Piusa station will also be one of the bases for the Border Guards special unit.

In addition to the working spaces for the border guards, there will in the station also be a diner, modern accommodation, a kitchen corner, detention premises for detained persons, a sauna and a gym. A separate building has been built for the border guard dogs, where there are around ten separate dog cages, all with private exercise yards.

As the head designer of the project, Amhold performed the architectural, structural engineering and interior design, also heating, A/C, ventilation, water and sewage, electrical and weak current solutions. We also carried out engineering-technical and environmental surveys, solutions for roads, parking areas and landscape, and control engineering, security and surveillance systems. Amhold was also responsible for bill of quantities and provided author supervision and consulting services for the client during the construction period.

The three-storey building with ancillary buildings has more than 2500 m² building area. The new stations main architect is Magnar Meinart (architect firm Privaatarhitektuur OÜ). The architectural part was done in cooperation with architect Kristiina Way from Amhold. The projecting was led by project manager Jaan Aru, constructions were developed by engineers Katrin Viirlik and Rait Põllumees, water and sewage systems were projected by engineer Igor Ipolitov, heating-, ventilation- and cooling parts were done by engineers Natalja Novgorodskaja and Helin Aus, the interior architecture was designed by Kaidi Org. BIM-coordinator for the building project was Katrin Nele Mäger.

The building of the new Border Guard station cost 4,6 million euros plus VAT. Building contractor was AS Nordecon.
