The chairman of Riigi Kinnisvara Ltd.'s board, Jaak Saarniit, the chancellor of the Ministry of Education and Research, Janar Holm, the principal of Kallemäe School, Arvi Liik, and the executive director of Facio Ehitus Ltd., Riho Kalve, laid a cornerstone on Saaremaa for the building extension of Kallemäe School (1,500 m²) at a festive ceremony.

A new school building being reconstructed at the moment provides children with special needs with new classrooms, a therapy complex with rooms for hydrotherapeutic and massage procedures as well as a gym. In addition, to boost the development of such children, music therapy, everyday domestic life and shop classes and medical gymnastics are used. The building extension provides room for 3 groups of a kind. Also, an elevator for children with special needs will be located in the newly built wing. Furthermore, a driven well, a container-based sewage sludge, a stadium and outdoor classrooms are to be constructed, as well as lines and playgrounds to be renovated.

Kallemäe School is funded by the Ministry of Research and Education, enabling children with special needs to attend school, get secondary education, improve their skills and learn to cope with everyday life.

The building extension will have been built by September 2010.
