UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon visited Amhold´s construction site in Uganda

On 24th of May Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General, Jim Yong Kim, the president of World Bank and president Museveni of the Republic of Uganda visited during their Entebbe meeting also the construction site in MONUSCO Support Base that is managed by Amhold Limited.

During the meeting attended by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon the current stage of works at construction site of the Communication Centre, complete concept of the building and opportunities that will come into service with the completion of the building were introduced.

Amhold started the project in year 2010 - the preliminary provided services included survey and design work of the site and Communication Centre. Construction works started in November 2012. At the moment the works at 0 phase are completed and the construction of substructures has started. The contractor is a Chinese company named Zhonghao. Amhold carries out the project management and construction supervision works in cooperation with MONUSCO (Mission de l´Organisation des nations Unies pour la Stabilisation en Rèpublique Dèmocratique du Congo), which is the sub-organization of United Nations.

At the meeting attended by May Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary-General, Jim Yong Kim, the president of World Bank and president Museveni of the Republic of Uganda it was also announced that extra one billion US dollars are allocated by World Bank  to develop the countries in the African Great Lakes region.

From September 2012 Amhold is also carrying out survey, design, construction management and supervision works of medical laboratories in six Ugandan regional hospitals financed by World Bank.

The service area of six hospitals covers the catchment population of 28 million people. By now the engineering technical and environmental surveys and preliminary design works have been completed. The construction works are planned to be completed in 2014.
