Design of Reduction of CO2 Emission and Energy Efficiency Enhancement of Pärnu Old Town School Sport Hall Completed

31.05.2014

On May 31, 2011 Amhold completed the design for reduction of CO2 emission and energy efficiency enhancement of Pärnu Old Town School Sport Hall. The architects are Jane Pärnamaa and the Project Manager is Reelika Mitrovski (Master of Science in Engineering).

The estimated completion time of the construction works is autumn 2012.

Pärnu Old Town School Sports hall was built on top of the 16th century’s gunpowder storage in 1907. The gross area of the building is 1,384m2. The sports hall is in a historical architectural ensemble with the main building and it forms a complete educational and sports campus for students and community members.

With the aim of the reduction of CO2 emission, the heating and air conditioning systems of the sports hall are designed completely new taking into account contemporary technical capabilities using solar energy, heat energy from waste water and air, and control automation. Specific solutions of window glass and structures make a significant contribution to improvement of energy efficiency.

Amhold performed pre-design engineering-technical and architectural-historical and environmental surveys, also architectural, structural, and electrical engineering, including HVAC, water supply and sewerage system, control engineering solutions as well as leading design/management services.
